Recipe for Italian pastry squares with multi-purpose flour
Ingredients
3 cups of all-purpose white flour
¾ cup of sugar
½ cup of water
½ cup of butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 beaten egg
Vegetable oil for frying
½ cup powdered sugar.
How to prepare:
Mix sugar, water and butter in a medium saucepan over high heat until butter melts.
Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool until lukewarm.
Add vanilla and eggs and mix well.
Put the mixture into a large bowl and gradually mix in the flour until well combined.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes thin, and cut it into squares of five centimeters each.
Put plenty of oil in a high frying pan and heat it over medium heat until hot.
Place five to six pieces of dough in the hot oil for 30 to 40 seconds, or until golden on both sides.
Take it out on kitchen paper and complete the rest of the quantity. Sprinkle the dessert with powdered sugar and serve immediately
