How to make basbousa
Ingredients:
- 500 gm semolina
- 300 gm sugar
- 200 gm of milk
- 150 gm ghee
- 40 gm glucose honey
Method:
In the bowl of preparation, we mix the semolina with the ghee well until each grain of semolina is covered with the ghee well. In a solution over medium heat, we put the milk, sugar, honey, and glucose and stir until the sugar dissolves, making sure that the mixture is warm and not hot, then we put it on the semolina and ghee mixture and stir it carefully until all the ingredients are incorporated. In a tray size 28 and bake in a hot oven at 180 degrees for 40 minutes until it takes on a golden color and watered with hot syrup the moment it comes out of the oven hot
To make sherbet:
- 250 gm sugar - 500 gm water
- 20 gm glucose honey - 5 gm vanilla
- Half a lemon
Method:
We put all the ingredients in a pot on the stove, except for the lemon. Once the mixture starts to boil, we put half of the lemon and leave it to boil for about 3 minutes until it thickens a little, then we water it with the basbousah while it is hot and leave it to cool and serve.
